How Era Foods Company Makes Freeze-Dried Meals in Dallas, Texas

Every Era Foods meal starts and finishes in our facility in Dallas, Texas. Here's a look at how we go from recipe to sealed pouch.

It Starts With the Recipe

We don't take shortcuts on flavor. Each recipe is developed and tested as a real, cook-from-scratch dish first. If it doesn't taste great as a fresh meal, it doesn't become a freeze-dried one. Our current lineup — Roasted Garlic Alfredo, Mac N' Cheese, and Creamy Mushroom Pasta — all started in the kitchen before they went into the freeze dryer.

Real Ingredients, Full Stop

We use real cheese, real cream, real garlic, real mushrooms. No artificial colors or flavors. The ingredient list on our packaging reads like a recipe you'd make at home.

The Freeze-Drying Process

After cooking, meals are rapidly frozen and then placed into our freeze-drying equipment. Under vacuum, ice is converted directly to vapor — preserving structure, flavor, and nutrition. The process takes time and precision, but it's what makes the difference between "instant food" and food that actually tastes good. Learn more about the science in our deep-dive article.

Food Safety Standards

Our Dallas facility follows strict food safety protocols. From ingredient sourcing to final packaging, every step is designed to produce safe, high-quality meals you can trust.

Packaging and Sealing

Meals are sealed in pouches designed to protect against moisture, oxygen, and light — the three biggest threats to shelf life. Proper packaging is what lets freeze-dried meals stay shelf-stable for extended periods.
